At NextPage we do a lot of projects that deserve a spotlight. As with other idea people, we believe the sharing of ideas can have a major effect on the creative process. We hope that some of our most enjoyable and sometimes ambitious projects may spark something in our readers to create something bold.
Creative Planning is a Kansas City based company that focuses on providing clients with customized investment plans and comprehensive wealth management services. What do you do as a company to help bring hope in a time of turmoil? According to the company’s president, Peter Mallouk, you put a giant message on the side of your building. The message reading KC Strong is 34 feet wide and 30.5 feet tall and will surely bring a little light to anyone that sees it.
The annual Phi Theta Kappa Catalyst event was attended by hundreds and hosted in downtown Kansas City at Bartle Hall. The event featured keynote speakers, educational forums, an exhibitor marketplace, and an awards gala. Branded pieces for the event was featured throughout the venue including pillar wraps, window installations, wayfinding signage, and an eye-catching staircase installation (slide 4).
Featured at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the exhibition is an immersive, multimedia experience created for the space that incorporates themes of cultural hybridization, technology, identity, ceremonial rituals, and science fiction. Raised letterforms cut from a holographic material (slides 2 & 3) provide a unique and more interactive viewing experience. Woolfalk’s work transports viewers into a fantastical world with the help of these materials.
In February of 2020, Kansas City was abuzz when the Kansas City Chiefs won their first Super Bowl title in 50 years. Hundreds of thousands packed the streets of downtown to celebrate with the team. Large signage congratulating the team greeted fans throughout downtown including the large window installation on Main Street (slide 1), the piece featured at the Marriott Bridge (slide 2), and another Chiefs red piece (slide 3) near the conclusion of the parade at Union Station.
Bar K is a unique new destination featuring a modern bar, restaurant, event space and dog park. Constructed out of repurposed shipping containers, it is located in downtown Kansas City on the shore of the Missouri River in Berkley Riverfront Park. Bar K brings people and their dogs together in a joyful and creative space. The branded exterior signage of the space stands out and greets guests from afar.
