Printing with Empathy for the Win

We are humbled to be recognized for so many awards with all the hard work we as a team have put in over the year. We are always looking for ways to push the limits in print and our customers never fail to inspire us. The joy we feel seeing our customers’ visions come to life gives us the passion to continue to drive for excellence.

We received two awards for the production of the Magnolia Pearl Catalog — “and the Stars go With You”.  The Printing Industries of America, Mid America Affiliate recognized us with the GRAPHEX Best Of Category for Book – Softcover – Offset as well as a Silver award for the Best of Show overall category.

Magnolia Pearl first started in 2001 when Robin Pearl Brown and her business partner John Gray opened up shop in Fredericksburg, Texas. Their line of clothing and accessories are made from vintage laces, velvets, silks, and embroidered linens and truly are exquisite. As stated on their website,  “The fashion is featured in context amidst landscapes and showrooms dotting the countryside in Fredericksburg, Texas and Brown and the Magnolia Pearl family inhabit.”

Magnolia Pearl has many reseller stores across the US as well as Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Kuwait, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The Best of Show Award is the top three across a four-state region competing against hundreds of entries. What an incredible accomplishment! This means that Magnolia Pearl, “and the Stars go With You,” will go on to compete for an international Benny. “The Benny has become a universally recognized symbol for excellence in the printing industry.” (PrintingUnited Alliance) Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the award show has been canceled for this year so we will have to wait until next year to see how it does. We are still thrilled to announce that we get the chance to move forward in the competition!

When prompted with additional comments on this project, a judge from the contest stated, “I didn’t realize that it’s possible to print with empathy. This perfect bound family opus is a journey of emotion, pain, loss, and joy. The designer has weaved and stitched together stories from a family’s past that the printer used to thread and create a wonderful visual history.”

NextPage produced the 238 page plus cover perfect bound catalog of Magnolia Pearl’s high-end clothing. Below you’ll find a sneak peek into this project with information on how it was printed to become the award-winning book it is today!
