From Pumpkin Spice to Holiday Cards

You know it’s coming, the air is cooler and the days are getting shorter. Pumpkin ‘everything’ is showing up in your food, beverages, and social feeds. You may be thinking ahead to Halloween costumes or even plotting your Thanksgiving menu. Take your planning a little further into the future; have you thought about your year-end thank you / holiday cards?

Whether you’re ready for it or not, the end of the year is coming, and it’s time to start preparations. The holiday card is an essential part of business etiquette and networking. Thoughtful and memorable correspondence doesn’t just happen. Start planning now and you will make a lasting impression when you hit their mailboxes.

How to Stand Out

Personalization – adding a personalized touch to your cards will go a long way in making your brand memorable. Using real stamps or hand addressing takes it a step further.

Branding – make sure to hold true to your branding standards. This will help cement your company in the recipient’s mind.

Design – by creating something a little different or unique, you will avoid falling through the cracks. Consider enlisting a talented designer to come up with something memorable.

Remain Neutral   – you can avoid alienating anyone by avoiding specific religious undertones. A generalized Happy Holidays or Seasons Greetings is a safe alternative.

Save The Sales Pitch – this isn’t a moment for selling.

Be Timely – make sure your card arrives on time, you don’t want your holiday greeting to end up in their hands in January.

If you begin now you will have plenty of time to decide on a high-quality design, and have them proofed, double checked and printed. Don’t forget to go over your mailing list and make sure you have updated contact information. All of your planning and efforts will be wasted if your carefully crafted message doesn’t reach your intended recipient!
